I canât provide you literal proof of His divine efficacy, but, anecdotally, deep down in my heart, thereâs no question that God has blessed every facet of my life several times over and has steadily guided me through thick and thin. But, even for my agnostic-atheist friends out there, this source of ambition doesnât necessarily have to be derived from the worship of deities. It could be a cause, a movement, or a political ideology you wholeheartedly subscribe to that drives your ambitious plans.
The bottom line is that whatever pushes your buttons, be sure youâre intimately aware of what those triggers are, and, more important, USE THEM, OFTEN! Use ambition! Let it embolden and impassion you to unapologetically grab the proverbial bull by the horns and swing for the fences. Allow it to work as a force of good in your life. And whatever that dream is that tickles your fancy or floats your boat, go after it, with all your heart! In the process, always take the high road. Operate in a strictly Machiavelli-free zone. Ambition must be rooted in positivity. Your aspirations for greatness should be well-intentioned, and should never come at the expense of othersâ misfortune. Eradicate from your vernacular and from your mind the ridiculous phrase, âDonât forget the little people.â There are no little people. There are just people. Everyone deserves to be treated with dignity and respect. And lastly, it should never be about money! I became a heart surgeon because I was genuinely passionate about it, about saving lives, not about the monetary compensation that accompanies over a decade of rigorous training. Money comes and goes, and no matter how much of it you have, it alone will never be truly fulfilling.
Follow these rules, and the fruits of your labor shall be plentiful, in due time. Donât get discouraged along the way. You will be tested, repeatedly. Be ambitious. Be patient and persistent, confident but not arrogant. Stay calm, remain positive, and never forget where you came from. Trust in the process, trust in yourself, and trust that everything will work out for the best. As my dear mother used to always say to me, âLo que sucede, convieneââeverything happens for a reason. Just do your part! Youâve got this!
